Basics and Boundaries

Before you start training, you need to have these basics ready. 

This module will show you how to set yourself up to train. Don't underestimate the importance of a marker. This is the most important thing to have done before you get started. Markers bridge communication gaps and help your dog learn! 

**IMPORTANT** If you are attending classes or private consultations at the Dog Education Centre, this module needs to be completed before you attend your first lesson.

Please ensure you have your marker properly conditioned so you aren't behind the other students. A good way to know if it's conditioned well is to do the following steps
- Be around your dog but have it under no formal instruction

- Wait until it's not concentrating on you

- Use your marker (either verbal or clicker) 

P.S The treats part is also super important!! Dogs don't want to work hard for low pay. 

- If your dog spins around to look for it's reward, you know it's working.

In this module you will learn how to clearly teach your dog the basic obedience skills every dog needs to know. 
Each skill is broken down into easy to learn pieces with trouble shooting included. As with everything, obedience needs to be practiced daily to become a habit! This doesn't have to be overwhelming. Simple steps each day add up to the big picture 

Is your dog digging, barking, chewing? 

This module will help! We highly encourage you to include daily exercise and training as a part of the solution. When it comes to behaviour problems, addressing the dogs biological needs will generally sort out most issues!
